The first Erector® Set was made in 1913 by A.C. Gilbert, a physician and Olympic pole vaulter. Gilbert gave up medicine (and presumably pole vaulting) to pursue the development of one of the world’s most legendary toys. Over 30 million Erector sets have been sold to budding architects and engineers around the wold. In fact, astronaut Buzz Aldrin built Erector models.
Today’s Erector Set is available in individual model sets, and as a kit that children can use to build the classic Erector ferris wheel (delivered in a classically fashioned tin box). Also be sure to check out Erector’s innovative bendable metal building sets like the Design 4, a kit your child can use to create a remarkably stylish roadster.
